📊 Today's pulse55 deals · 30 M&A · 25 fundraisings · €13.2bn in play.

Today's news highlights three clear trends: in France, industrial consolidations reshaping perimeters (car leasing, geothermal energy, cleaning), digital infrastructure seeking to scale up, and portfolio divestments accelerating the transformation of large groups. In Europe, defense absorbs a historic fundraising, nuclear fusion and quantum computing capture significant capital, and the "AI rollup" model continues to find buyers. All against the backdrop of a French industrial breakthrough in combat aeronautics that deserves to be understood for what it truly is.

Safran draws a line under the Franco-German engine: the national roadmap takes over

Source: x.com →

Safran is ending its combat aircraft engine program developed in cooperation with Germany, following the failure of the SCAF. The amount is not disclosed, but the industrial consequences are considerable.

The immediate interpretation: another bilateral project collapsing under the weight of Franco-German strategic divergences, another disappointment for European defense cooperation.

What is actually happening is more structural. The SCAF is not simply an armaments program: it is an attempt to share the technological rent on the combat engine, the most sovereign component in the military aeronautical value chain. Safran, with its M88 engine powering the Rafale, holds a position that few European manufacturers can claim. Accepting shared prime contractor status for the next generation would have meant diluting this position — and therefore a part of the rent derived from it for decades to come. By "prioritizing the French roadmap," Safran chooses to preserve its technological monopoly rather than pool it in a framework where the rules of the game remained disputed.

For an equipment manufacturer or investor positioned in the Rafale and its successors' value chain, this is a clear signal: the consolidation of the engine sector will take place under French leadership, with Safran as the undisputed architect — which enhances visibility on future programs, but also closes the door to any entry via a European partnership.

Frégate Énergie: nuclear logistics emerges from the shadows

Source: x.com →

Frégate Énergie, a specialist in the transport of contaminated nuclear waste, announces the ambition to double its revenue by 2029. No transaction amount is communicated — this is a development plan, but the dynamic is worth noting.

The company, resurrected after difficult years, is positioning itself in a segment that the revival of French nuclear power mechanically makes buoyant: more reactors in operation and under construction means more waste to manage, more specialized transport to organize, more regulatory constraints to master. This is not the glamorous segment of the industry — it's not the construction of EPRs or fuel manufacturing — but it is precisely why it is defensible: few players, high regulatory barriers, captive demand.

For an infrastructure or critical industrial services investor, the niches of the nuclear logistics chain now deserve attention that the previous decade did not justify.

Accor sells Essendi for €975M: the end of a proprietary model

Source: finance.yahoo.com → · Sector FinTech — 📬 subscribe to the FinTech newsletter

Accor has signed a definitive agreement to sell its approximately 30.7% stake in Essendi (formerly AccorInvest) to a consortium comprising Blackstone and Colony IM, for a total consideration of up to €975M — including approximately €675M payable at closing and a potential earn-out of €300M. The transaction is expected to close in Q4 2026.

The obvious interpretation: Accor lightens its balance sheet, recovers cash, and plans to return €500M to shareholders via an additional share buyback. A classic "asset-light" move.

But the detail that changes everything is in the post-sale structure: all hotels in the portfolio will continue to operate under Accor brands, with franchise agreements averaging twenty years. Accor is not selling its hotels — it is selling the real estate while keeping the brand. What Blackstone and Colony are buying is hotel real estate with a guaranteed tenant for two decades. What Accor retains is the brand, the distribution network, the loyalty program — the intangible assets that are not on the balance sheet but which determine the value of everything else.

The transformation is complete: Accor becomes a brand and network management company, whose value is based on royalty streams rather than fixed assets. For a French hotel group still owning its properties, this is the model towards which market pressure is inexorably pushing.

Arval + Athlon: European car leasing consolidates

Source: auto-infos.fr → · Sector FinTech — 📬 subscribe to the FinTech newsletter

Arval (a subsidiary of BNP Paribas) completes the acquisition of Athlon Car Lease (formerly owned by Mercedes-Benz) for an estimated amount of over €1 billion, after validation by the European Commission. The transaction is reported in the digest at €200M, but industry sources converge on a significantly higher amount — the €200M figure likely reflects a partial component.

The result: a combined fleet of nearly 2.3 million vehicles managed, making Arval the European co-leader behind Ayvens (the result of the LeasePlan/ALD Automotive merger by Société Générale, with 3.3 million vehicles). Athlon brings approximately 400,000 vehicles in ten countries, with a strong footprint in Germany, Benelux, and Southern Europe.

Fleet car leasing is a sector where size directly determines profitability: purchasing power with manufacturers, pooling of residual value risks, ability to negotiate maintenance contracts at scale. The race for consolidation is not over — it is even accelerated by electrification, which makes residual value risk management even more complex and therefore even more favorable to players capable of diluting it over large volumes.

For BNP Paribas, the operation strengthens a business of recurring, low-volatility financial services, linked to professional mobility — exactly the type of asset a universal bank seeks to develop during periods of uncertainty regarding intermediation margins.

Bridgepoint takes control of Lansweeper: the first LBO of a Belgian IT asset management gem

Source: agefi.fr →

Bridgepoint signs the acquisition of over 80% of Lansweeper, a Belgian software publisher specializing in IT asset management and cybersecurity, for an implied valuation of approximately €100M. Insight Partners and Imker Group exit the capital; Dovesco and management retain comparable stakes. This is the first majority LBO since the company's creation.

Lansweeper presents a profile that LBO funds in software systematically seek: annual growth exceeding 20%, ARR close to €100M, already established profitability. The process attracted at least four expressions of interest, and its launch had been delayed due to uncertainties about software sector valuations — meaning Bridgepoint waited for the right moment to enter, and the right moment is called "multiple stabilization."

The thesis is clear: IT asset management (knowing exactly what is running on one's network, who accesses it, with which version of which software) has become a prerequisite for cybersecurity and regulatory compliance. With the proliferation of AI agents in information systems, this visibility is no longer optional — it is the foundation of any serious security policy.

For Bridgepoint, this is a coherent entry into a highly recurring B2B software segment, at a time when valuations have normalized after two years of compression. Existing profitability provides room to finance growth without relying on a favorable market assumption.

Duranet Groupe acquires Renaudin Propreté: territorial coverage in industrial cleaning

Source: lagazettefrance.fr →

Duranet Groupe (Creil, Oise) acquires Renaudin Propreté (Reims), an industrial cleaning specialist employing 26 people with a revenue of €1.3M, for approximately €2M. The operation, advised by Arcéane, marks Duranet's first establishment in the Grand Est region.

The logic is that of a classic regional consolidator: a group of 380 employees expanding its geographical coverage by absorbing profitable local structures whose founder is seeking an exit. Industrial cleaning is a fragmented sector, with low barriers to entry but high value in proximity — contracts are won on local responsiveness as much as on price.

Orange and Morrison: €3Bn for a sovereign data center platform

Source: abcbourse.com →

Orange and infrastructure fund Morrison announce a joint venture project to develop a data center platform in France, with a target capacity of 400 MW and an investment program of €3Bn. The envisioned structure would bring together five major Orange data centers across four campuses (Chevilly-Larue, Aubervilliers, Chartres, Val-de-Reuil), representing a nearly tenfold increase in current capacity. The definitive signing is expected at the end of 2026, for completion in Q1 2027.

The surface reading: Orange monetizes its infrastructure assets to finance its transformation, Morrison provides the capital, and together they ride the wave of AI-related hosting demand.

What is more interesting is the chosen structure. Orange is not selling its data centers — it is contributing them to a co-controlled joint venture, consolidated under the equity method. It thus retains real influence over governance while bringing in external capital to finance expansion. This is a way to raise €3 billion without diluting Orange shareholders or ceding control of an infrastructure that the group itself describes as a lever for European digital sovereignty. Morrison, for its part, gains exposure to a critical infrastructure asset with an established telecom operator as a commercial partner.

The word "sovereignty" is not marketing: in a context where American hyperscalers (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) dominate the European market, a 400 MW platform operated under French and European flag responds to a real demand from companies and administrations subject to data localization constraints.

For a French or European company looking to host sensitive workloads without relying on major American clouds, this platform will be one to watch from 2027 — provided the €3 billion is indeed deployed within the announced timeframe.

Galp acquires 361 MW of Spanish wind farms for €420M

Source: electricalnews.co.uk →

Galp (Portuguese energy group) acquires 15 onshore wind farms in Spain from Acciona Energía for €420M, with no associated debt. The portfolio represents 361 MW of installed capacity and approximately 0.8 TWh of annual production. The operation was signed and finalized simultaneously, without prior conditions.

The asset has been operational for an average of 2005 — two decades of operation. Galp is therefore not buying green growth under construction: it is buying immediate generation, with the maintenance risks associated with aging turbines, but without the uncertainties of permitting or grid connection. The farms operate on a merchant basis, exposed to wholesale electricity prices — meaning profitability directly depends on the dynamics of Iberian markets.

For Galp, the operation brings its renewable capacity to 2.7 GW and diversifies its mix towards wind power (30% of renewable capacity), reducing its concentration on solar. For Acciona Energía, this is a divestment of mature assets that frees up capital for new generation projects.

The transaction illustrates a fundamental trend: first-generation wind assets are changing hands between established players, with sellers preferring to recycle their capital into newer technologies or more dynamic markets.

Today's fundraising market — figures and top rounds

In focus — the deals we decoded

Orange / Morrison data centers — classified M&A (co-controlled joint venture, see section above)

Source: 24matins.fr →

Abivax, NeoCem, Dealinka, Le Slip Français: the panorama of French fundraisings this week

Signalbase's weekly summary lists the main French fundraisings of the past week. The dominant fundraising is that of Abivax — a clinical biotechnology company specializing in chronic inflammatory diseases — which closed approximately €920M (approximately €878M in the digest), anchoring the week in biotech.

Behind it, NeoCem (approximately €17M) is developing a clinker substitute solution in cement, by valorizing clay spoil as low-carbon cementitious ingredients — a positioning on heavy industry decarbonization that is starting to attract serious capital. Dealinka (€7.1M, Series A) operates in media and technology. Le Slip Français (€5.5M, Series A) is raising funds to accelerate its French manufacturing production.

The Abivax fundraising is treated separately in this edition because its size places it in another category — it will be analyzed in detail on the day of its official closing if conditions permit.

Okaïdi exits receivership: a continuation plan, not a fundraising

Source: lexpress-franchise.com → · Sector Knowledge & Media — 📬 subscribe to the Knowledge & Media newsletter

The Lille Métropole Commercial Court has validated the continuation plan for Idkids (group owning Okaïdi, Obaïbi, and Oxybul), which was placed in receivership in February 2026. The plan provides for the closure of approximately 60 stores, the elimination of 290 positions, and withdrawal from three European markets (Germany, Poland, Portugal). The amount of €300M mentioned in the digest likely corresponds to the scope of the restructured liabilities, not a fundraising.

The operation is listed here by default of classification, but it falls under judicial restructuring. What is notable: Jacadi had already been sold to the Deveaux group in April 2026, even before the plan's validation. The group emerges with a network refocused on approximately 335 French stores and markets where profitability is sufficient for rebuilding.

For the network's franchisees, the validation lifts five months of uncertainty — but rebuilding trust in the brand will take significantly longer than the legal procedure.

Arverne raises €70M in convertible bonds to accelerate deep geothermal energy

Source: vie-economique.com →

Arverne, France's leading provider of geothermal solutions, closes a €70M issue of convertible bonds (Orane), fully subscribed by five existing investors: Geogreen, Bpifrance, Ademe Investissement, Crédit Mutuel Equity, and Eiffel Investment Group.

The choice of instrument is significant. An Orane is not a share: it is debt that can convert into equity, allowing Arverne to finance its growth without immediate dilution while offering investors protection in case of difficulties. That the five existing shareholders fully subscribe is a signal of conviction — they could have allowed new capital to enter. They preferred to maintain their position and influence on the trajectory.

Arverne has a portfolio of nearly 100 deep geothermal projects and is also developing Lithium de France, which extracts lithium from geothermal waters — a dual valorization of the subsoil that transforms an energy asset into a critical raw material asset.

Deep geothermal energy now combines two arguments that the market is beginning to recognize: a non-intermittent baseload energy (unlike solar and wind), and a potential for lithium extraction that directly connects it to the battery value chain. For a decarbonized energy investor, this is a different risk profile from that of conventional renewables.

Ascendance raises €14M in Series B for its hybrid VTOL aircraft

Ascendance (Toulouse) raises €14M in Series B to finance the development of its electric vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) aircraft and its hybrid propulsion system. The round is led by Bpifrance and Dassault Aviation, with the participation of Expansion, M Capital Partners, Sowefund, and ARIS Occitanie.

The entry of Dassault Aviation into the capital is the detail that matters. Dassault is not a generalist fund: it is an aeronautical industrialist that invests when it sees technology consistent with its own trajectories. Hybrid propulsion for vertical take-off aircraft directly interests light military applications and urban air mobility — two markets where Dassault has strategic reasons to maintain active surveillance.

Womed raises €7.1M in Seed for a medical device against uterine adhesions

Womed (medtech) raises €7.1M in Seed to develop a medical device aimed at preventing the formation of intrauterine adhesions, which cause miscarriages and fertility problems. The round brings together Irdi Capital Investissement, Cemag Invest, Lita Gestion, and Capital Cell.

The addressed market is significant and underserved: intrauterine adhesions (Asherman's syndrome) affect patients after surgery or curettage, with direct consequences on fertility. Few preventive solutions exist today.

Engo (ActiveLook) raises €5.1M in Seed for head-up display glasses

Engo (formerly ActiveLook) raises €5.1M in Seed for its head-up display platform integrated into smart glasses, with Ventech, Odyssée Venture, and Bpifrance in the round. The technology first targets sports markets (cycling, triathlon) before considering industrial applications.

WALLIX secures €25M non-dilutive funding for its sovereign cybersecurity platform

Source: boursorama.com → · Sector Construction & PropTech — 📬 subscribe to the Construction & PropTech newsletter

WALLIX (a listed French software publisher specializing in privileged access management) secures €25M in non-dilutive funding, which can be increased to €65M, to accelerate the construction of a sovereign European cybersecurity platform.

The non-dilutive nature is central: WALLIX borrows without issuing new shares, preserving the shareholding structure at a time when the company seeks to consolidate its position in the European sovereign cybersecurity market. The optional tranche of an additional €40M provides flexibility to finance acquisitions or commercial developments without returning to the market.

In the context of the NIS2 directive and the increasing European regulatory requirements for information system security, a publisher that can boast a certified sovereign offering has a real commercial advantage with administrations and operators of vital importance.

Quantum Systems raises €1.1Bn in Series D: European defense-tech enters a new category

Source: business-news-today.com → · Sector HealthTech & Digital Health — 📬 subscribe to the HealthTech & Digital Health newsletter

Quantum Systems (Munich) raises $1.2Bn (approximately €1.1Bn) in Series D at a post-money valuation of approximately $8Bn, in a round co-led by Blackstone, Noteus, Airbus, and Advent, with the participation of BOND, Fidelity, Wellington Management, A.P. Moller Holding, Balderton Capital, and HV Capital.

The immediate interpretation: a record fundraising for a German autonomous drone manufacturer, driven by European defense demand and operational deployment in Ukraine.

What this fundraising truly means is deeper. Quantum Systems is no longer valued as a hardware manufacturer — it is valued as an architect of multi-domain autonomous systems (air, land, sea), defined by software rather than hardware. The term used in the press release — "neo-prime" — refers to a company capable of designing and integrating complex defense systems without the heavy overhead of traditional large contractors. This is exactly what European defense budgets are seeking to finance: a new, more agile industrial capability, capable of delivering quickly.

Blackstone's entry into a defense-tech round is itself a signal: American institutional capital, long cautious about defense assets for ESG reasons, is beginning to reconsider this position in the face of European geopolitical reality. When Blackstone co-leads a military drone round, the taboo is lifted.

For European funds still hesitant about defense-tech, Quantum Systems' Series D sets a new floor for valuation and round size. Capital now follows the reality on the ground — literally.

Verisure refinances €1Bn of debt: balance sheet management, not growth

Source: verisure.com →

Verisure (European leader in remote surveillance, Hellman & Friedman portfolio) has successfully priced a €1Bn issue of senior secured bonds at 4.125% due 2032. The proceeds are used to repay 5.25% bonds maturing in 2029.

The operation is a pure refinancing: Verisure takes advantage of favorable market conditions to extend its debt maturity and reduce its coupon by 112.5 basis points. No new strategy, no acquisition — classic balance sheet optimization in a mature LBO. Note: the pricing date indicated in the source press release (June 2026) suggests that this information is slightly out of sync with the digest date.

Proxima Fusion raises €411M with Google for its stellarator reactor

Source: startupfortune.com → · Sector Developer & IT Infrastructure — 📬 subscribe to the Developer & IT Infrastructure newsletter

Proxima Fusion (Munich, spinout of the Max Planck Institute) raises €411M in a Google-backed round to develop its stellarator approach to nuclear fusion — a magnetic confinement geometry different from the classic tokamak.

The technical distinction deserves a sentence: where the tokamak (the technology of ITER and most fusion startups) uses a toroidal plasma maintained by an internal electric current, the stellarator maintains the plasma by external magnetic coils only — which makes it intrinsically more stable but much more difficult to build. Proxima Fusion relies on data from Wendelstein 7-X, the Max Planck Institute's experimental stellarator, to refine its design.

Google's entry is consistent with the firm's energy strategy: its data centers consume quantities of electricity that intermittent renewable energies alone cannot cover. A fusion reactor that delivers continuous baseload power would be exactly what Google needs — and Google has the means to bet on a ten-to-fifteen-year horizon.

For energy investors, nuclear fusion remains a long-term bet, but the concentration of capital in this sector (Proxima, Commonwealth Fusion, TAE Technologies...) signals that the consensus on the timeline for commercial viability has shortened. Following Proxima's technical milestones in 2027-2028 will be instructive.

Dwelly raises $170M for its AI rental real estate rollup

Source: sifted.eu → · Sector Construction & PropTech — 📬 subscribe to the Construction & PropTech newsletter

Dwelly (London, founded in 2023) raises $170M (approximately €156M) in a round led by EQT Growth and General Catalyst, including $95M in equity and $75M in debt via Trinity Capital. Founders of ElevenLabs, Legora, and Synthesia participate as angels.

Dwelly embodies the "AI rollup" model: acquiring established rental real estate agencies, then layering a proprietary software layer that automates labor-intensive tasks (tenant qualification, visit management, maintenance request processing). The agency retains its local presence and customer relationship; AI handles the administrative volume.

This model is interesting because it does not seek to replace the real estate agent — it seeks to make them ten times more productive, which allows each acquisition to be profitable by improving operating margins without affecting revenue. The $75M debt via Trinity Capital likely finances the acquisitions themselves, while the equity finances software development.

For a French or European real estate operator, the Dwelly model is one to watch as a threat to the rental management segment — a fragmented, low-margin market where automation can quickly redistribute profitability to the best-equipped players.

NexGen Cloud raises $45M in Series A for sovereign European GPU cloud

Source: globalsecuritymag.fr → · Sector Cybersecurity — 📬 subscribe to the Cybersecurity newsletter

NexGen Cloud raises $45M (approximately €41M) in Series A to develop a GPU cloud infrastructure for European companies seeking a sovereign alternative to American hyperscalers. Positioning consistent with the digital sovereignty thesis that runs through several of today's operations.

The demand for GPU compute in Europe is real, driven by AI labs, companies training their own models, and administrations subject to localization constraints. The challenge for NexGen Cloud is to build an infrastructure dense enough to be competitive in latency and price against major cloud offerings, while maintaining the promise of sovereignty.

Greyparrot raises $27M in Series B for artificial intelligence in waste sorting

Source: tech.eu →

Greyparrot raises $27M (approximately €25M) in Series B to deploy its computer vision system in waste sorting centers. The technology identifies and classifies materials in real time, improving recycling rates and tracking material flows.

The market is structurally constrained by regulation: European recycling targets impose increasing rates on member states, creating mandatory demand for sorting improvement technologies. Greyparrot positions itself as the software infrastructure for the waste value chain — a less glamorous but highly visible regulatory segment.

ZuriQ raises $25.5M in Seed for its 2D quantum architecture

Source: sifted.eu →

ZuriQ (Zurich, spinout of ETH Zürich) raises $25.5M (approximately €23M) in Seed in a round led by Quantonation, with the participation of Forward.one, Extantia, Firgun Ventures, and previous round investors.

ZuriQ's technical distinction is fundamental. Almost all existing trapped-ion quantum computers use a one-dimensional architecture — ions are aligned in a chain, which limits connectivity between qubits and makes increasing the number of qubits linear. ZuriQ uses Penning micro-traps that allow ions to be held in a two-dimensional plane, with a static rather than oscillating magnetic field. The consequence: the number of qubits can grow with the chip's surface rather than its length — the difference between tens and thousands of qubits on the same substrate.

This is precisely the type of architectural breakthrough that justifies early investment: if 2D delivers on its promises at scale, current 1D architectures will become obsolete, and the players who funded ZuriQ in 2026 will have a prime position.

For a quantum deeptech investor, ZuriQ represents a bet on technological discontinuity rather than incremental improvement — implying higher execution risk, but also significantly greater differentiation potential if the architecture proves itself at scale.

telli raises $15M in Seed for B2C customer relationship AI agents

Source: finsmes.com → · Sector B2B Software & Cloud — 📬 subscribe to the B2B Software & Cloud newsletter

telli (Berlin, founded in 2024) raises $15M (approximately €14M) in Seed in a round led by redalpine, with the participation of Mutschler, Cherry Ventures, Y Combinator, and a syndicate of strategic angels (Whirlpool CEO, Adyen and Lufthansa executives).

telli is developing "Charlie," a multi-channel AI agent (voice, chat, SMS, WhatsApp, email) to automate end-to-end B2C customer interactions. The company already claims deployments with Sky, Enpal, and Vaillant — meaning the product is running in large-scale production, not just in pilot.

The positioning is clear: large B2C groups managing millions of customer interactions per year have a direct economic interest in automating repetitive flows (appointment booking, lead qualification, standard ticket processing). telli integrates into this flow without replacing human teams for complex cases — a more acceptable value proposition for companies than pure replacement.

For HR and operational decision-makers in customer relationship-intensive sectors (energy, telecoms, home services), AI agents of this type are no longer a distant horizon — they are already in production with your competitors.
