Energy, quantum computing, industrial software, applied artificial intelligence — October 27 illustrates two speeds of capital: on one side, massive mergers that consolidate positions in irreplaceable physical assets; on the other, modest but precise funding rounds in niches where technology is beginning to prove its real-world value. No artificial common thread connects these operations — but each says something clear about the state of capital right now.

EQT + Range Resources: American natural gas gears up for the next era

EQT + Range Resources: American natural gas gears up for the next era

    Source: boursorama.com →

Range Resources is an independent natural gas exploration and production company, also present in the Appalachia region, built on a portfolio of long-life reserves. The two companies announced their merger in an all-stock transaction: each Range share will be exchanged for 0.987 EQT shares. Upon completion of the transaction, EQT shareholders will own approximately 73% of the new entity, and Range shareholders approximately 27%. The combined enterprise value exceeds $50 billion. Closing is expected in the first quarter of 2027, subject to regulatory approvals and shareholder votes from both companies.

The immediate interpretation is that of classic sector consolidation: two major operators in the same basin pooling their costs, reducing fixed expenses, and gaining leverage with institutional gas buyers.

But the move is more precise than that. Combined net production will exceed 9 billion cubic feet equivalent per day, with over 30 years of reserves across nearly 3 million net acres. The free cash flow breakeven point is announced at under $2 per MMBtu — a level that allows profitability even in depressed price environments.

What's at stake here goes beyond size: EQT is positioning itself as the essential interlocutor for the next phase of natural gas demand — data centers, LNG exports, industrial energy transition. Integrating the chain end-to-end means capturing margin at each step rather than ceding it to midstream intermediaries. For a European industrial company or a French energy operator seeking reliable American counterparts for long-term volumes, this new entity will be a key address.

Intel acquires Classiq: the missing piece of quantum computing

Source: intc.com → · Sector Industrial Tech & Manufacturing — 📬 subscribe to the Industrial Tech & Manufacturing newsletter

Intel Corporation has been developing silicon spin qubit technology since 2015, produced with the same equipment and processes as its conventional chips — which, in its own words, gives it a manufacturing capability at scale that no other quantum player possesses. Classiq, founded in Tel Aviv, has built a software platform for automatic synthesis of quantum algorithms: its role is to enable developers to write quantum programs without having to manually manipulate circuits at the qubit level, regardless of the underlying hardware technology. The transaction amounts were not disclosed.

Intel has the hardware and manufacturing; it lacked the software layer that makes this hardware accessible to an ordinary developer. Classiq provides exactly this abstraction.

Classiq plays this role for quantum — a qubit-technology-agnostic platform capable of automatically synthesizing complex circuits. The acquisition transforms Intel from a quantum hardware manufacturer into a complete solutions provider, capable of addressing the market with a CPU, GPU, ASIC, and now a QPU in a unified portfolio.

For French R&D teams — large industrial groups, laboratories, defense — who are following quantum computing from afar, waiting for the technology to "mature," this operation signals that the time when one can start programming without being a qubit physicist is approaching. The question is no longer just "which hardware technology will win" but "who controls the software layer that makes the whole usable."

Procede Software acquires RIMSS: two dealer software companies become one

    Source: prnewswire.com → · Sector B2B Software & Cloud — 📬 subscribe to the B2B Software & Cloud newsletter

Procede Software publishes the Excede® platform, a Dealer Management System (DMS) for the truck, trailer, bus, and aftermarket sectors. The company, celebrating its 25th anniversary, serves over 1,200 locations and 25,000 daily users in North America. RIMSS (Responsive Information Management Systems and Services), founded in 1983 in San Antonio, offers a competing DMS focused on agricultural, construction, and transportation dealerships, with OEM integrations with Kubota, Case IH, AGCO, and Hino, and over 200 dealer group clients. Both platforms are built on Microsoft technology. The acquisition amount was not disclosed.

Strategic interpretation: the complementarity is direct — many dealer groups operate both truck activities (on Excede) and agricultural or construction activities (on RIMSS). Having both under the same publisher simplifies contracts, integrations, and support for these multi-activity groups. Procede brings its engineering depth and AI capabilities (Procede Intelligence); RIMSS brings forty years of OEM relationships in markets Procede did not address. Both companies boast a customer retention rate of approximately 99% — a sign of a stable and hard-to-poach installed base.

Ailytics transforms old construction site cameras into operational brains

    Source: af.net →

Ailytics, a Singaporean startup founded in 2021, has developed software — named Ailyssa — that transforms existing industrial video surveillance feeds into real-time operational monitoring and security systems. Its engine generates three-dimensional spatial understanding from a simple two-dimensional video stream, works in rain, dust, and low light, and is compatible with cameras decades old. The latest reasoning engine, AilyssaX, analyzes contextual scenes in motion and validates multi-step procedures to issue real-time alerts. The company has over 400 active deployments in 15 countries, with clients such as DHL, NatSteel, PaxOcean, Rome's Leonardo da Vinci Airport, and the Changi Airport Terminal 5 construction site.

Ailytics raised $7.4 million in a Series A round led by Tin Men Capital, with participation from SEEDS (a subsidiary of SG Growth Capital), Japanese Safie, an undisclosed major Japanese construction company, family offices, and historical investors. The company plans to use these funds to strengthen its local teams in the United States, Japan, Australia, and the Gulf, and to develop sector-specific reasoning models.

Since its $2.7 million pre-Series A in April 2024, Ailytics has grown from 70 projects in four countries to over 400 deployments in 15 countries — growth that validates the thesis without requiring replacement of existing infrastructure.

The presence of Safie and a major Japanese constructor in the capital is a precise industrial signal: these are not financial investors betting on a trend; these are players who have construction sites, warehouses, and camera networks to deploy — and who want to secure access to the technology. For a French industrial company managing production or logistics sites equipped with CCTV, Ailytics represents the type of solution that doesn't require replacing existing infrastructure.

Strawberry: a browser with integrated assistants, six million dollars, and many open questions

    Source: shattered.io →

Strawberry, a Stockholm-based startup, is building a web browser where personalized AI assistants are integrated directly into the page. These assistants can perform searches, click, enter data, summarize content, and automate multi-step workflows on any site — LinkedIn, HubSpot, Gmail, internal dashboards. The target is repetitive office work: CRM entry, meeting follow-up, lead generation. The company raised $6 million in seed funding, in a round co-led by General Catalyst and EQT Ventures.

Available sources do not communicate any task completion rates, customer figures, information on underlying models, or the actual degree of autonomy of the assistants. The description of a Series A in preparation is not confirmed by the company or its investors.

What General Catalyst and EQT Ventures are funding here is less a proven product than a position in a nascent category — the browser as an orchestration layer for AI agents. Caution is advised: between the promise of automation and reliability on real tasks, the gap remains wide for the entire category.

Karta AI: the multilingual voice agent for Indian financial services

    Source: af.net →

Karta AI, a Bangalore-based startup founded by Vijaypal Singh and Abhishek Kushwaha, develops inbound conversational voice agents for large financial services companies. Its platform relies on a proprietary predictive context engine designed to autonomously resolve complex customer inquiries, manage loan-related workflows, and process transactional requests — in over 25 languages. The company already serves over 120 enterprise clients in banking, insurance, and financial services, including PhonePe, Pine Labs, InCred Finance, Bajaj Auto Credit, and Aavas Financiers.

Karta AI raised $3 million in seed funding, in a round co-led by PeerCapital and Cedar Hill Capital, with participation from Wyser VC, CDM Capital, and Seedstars. The funds will be used to expand distribution to large enterprises, recruit teams dedicated to key account deployments, and strengthen the reliability of autonomous workflows.

The coverage of 25 languages is not a marketing detail: in a market like India, where financial services customers speak Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, or Bengali, the ability to process complex requests in the caller's native language is a true operational differentiator. The base of 120 enterprise clients at this stage provides a solid foundation for the fundraising.
