October 14 opens with a discreet but clear signal: capital continues to flow into invisible infrastructure layers — the one that automates commercial relations for small businesses, the one that certifies payments between autonomous agents, the one that provides access to written text for those previously excluded. Meanwhile, Netflix takes another step in its transformation into a premium sports rights operator. No mega-deals today; rather, a geography of capital moving towards high-potential niche markets with deep roots.

Lili for Life, a Rouen-based startup founded in 2020, designs reading aid tools for dyslexic individuals. After a lamp commercialized since 2021, the company has developed a computer screen using pulsed light technology that facilitates reading — with a Lili mode that automatically activates or deactivates based on the detected profile. The team consists of about ten people.

To strengthen its sales and marketing team and accelerate the market launch of this screen, Lili for Life has closed a €1.1M funding round with its existing shareholders.

A continuity round, with no new capital entrants declared: existing shareholders are reinvesting to fund the commercial scaling of an already developed product. This is a sign of continued conviction, but also of a round that has not yet found external takers — which may mean that the size of the addressable market remains to be demonstrated, or simply that the company chose discretion. The concrete challenge: transforming a niche innovation into a widely distributed product, particularly through schools and companies subject to accessibility obligations.

Dapta: The Sales Agent for 200,000 SMEs Without a Salesperson

Source: dealroom.co → · Sector Horizontal & Productivity SaaS — 📬 subscribe to the Horizontal & Productivity SaaS newsletter

Dapta is a startup whose AI agent, named Dapti, handles inbound leads for small and medium-sized enterprises: it qualifies prospects, responds instantly, and books appointments without human intervention. Its target clients are law firms, insurance brokers, home service providers, and financial service companies — sectors where an uncalled lead within the hour is a lost lead. The startup operates primarily in the United States and Latin America, with strong initial traction among Hispanic American entrepreneurs, a segment growing by 44% over five years according to data cited by the company.

Dapta announces over 200,000 users, a growth of over 4,000 per week, and an annualized revenue expected to exceed $4M in the coming months. The company raised $6M in a seed round led by Chingona Ventures, with participation from Crew Capital, Broom Ventures, and Cometa VC, as well as historical investors 500 Global and Fen Ventures. This seed round follows a $1.4M pre-seed in 2024; revenue has doubled in six months.

The obvious interpretation: a sales automation tool for SMEs, a vast market, modest ticket size, rapid growth.

The deeper mechanism deserves attention: large companies adopt AI at roughly twice the rate of smaller ones, according to Chingona Ventures itself. Dapta bets that this differential creates a window — a short one — during which an SME can buy, for a few tens of dollars a month, the commercial responsiveness of a company ten times its size. If this bet is correct, Dapta is not selling software: it is selling competitive parity. The symmetrical risk is that large platforms (Salesforce, HubSpot) will integrate the same functionality and close the window before Dapta has built a loyal enough base to resist.

For a French investor or operator: the Hispanic American market is the laboratory, but the logic applies to any European SME under-resourced in sales force. The execution challenge, here as elsewhere, is the speed of entrenchment before commoditization.

Netflix and the 2030 World Cup: Sports Rights as Retention Infrastructure

Source: reuters.com →

Netflix has secured the broadcasting rights for the 2030 World Cup in Spain and Andorra. Spain is co-hosting the tournament, which gives these rights a particular resonance: matches played at home will be watched with an intensity few other events can rival.

The obvious interpretation: Netflix continues its diversification into live sports, following the Tyson-Paul fight in late 2024 and NFL games. The logic is one of retention — a subscriber awaiting the World Cup will not cancel.

What is less often said: sports rights are not content; they are temporary monopolies on attention. Netflix produces nothing here — it buys exclusivity for an irreproducible moment. In a market where a series catalog can be copied or substituted, the football match played that evening cannot. This is a logic of rent on the event, not value created by production. For historical Spanish broadcasters, the question is no longer whether Netflix is entering their territory — it already is.

The Central and Eastern European Startup Ecosystem in 2026: Unprecedented Concentration

This is not an individual fundraising round but a quantified overview published by BADideas.fund on startup funding in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) for the first nine months of 2026.

The data is clear: €1.72B raised between January and September 2026, up 24% over the same period in 2025. But five growth rounds — Mews (€273M), EnduroSat (€186M), Preply (€136M), Oxylabs (€118M), and Exaforce (€114M) — alone account for €827M, nearly half of the total. Without them, the market stagnates. The number of rounds, however, decreased each quarter of 2026 compared to the same quarter in 2025: 272 rounds versus 389 in the previous year. The Baltic countries saw a significant decline (€310M versus €500M), dragged down by Estonia, whose capital was halved.

The most useful signal here is not the rising total — it is misleading. It is the bifurcation: a few advanced-stage companies are capturing increasing amounts while the number of early-stage rounds is collapsing. Pre-seed rounds fell from 154 to 64, capital from €41M to €23M. This is not a market that is doing better overall: it is a polarizing market, where already identified winners raise more easily and access to capital for nascent projects tightens. For a CEE founder in the seed phase, the context is structurally more difficult than it appears from the headline.
