Open Source AI: America Leads Against China
Chamath Palihapitiya refutes the Chinese "price dumping" analogy in open source AI, unlike what might have happened in the manufacturing industry. He explains that open source, by definition, makes technologies accessible to everyone at no cost, thus nullifying any possibility of price dumping by China.
He asserts the dominant position of the United States in cutting-edge AI, highlighting its leadership in developers, creative engineers, semiconductors, and cloud infrastructure. The only major risk identified for America is electricity scarcity, while China has a surplus. If China manages to catch up in other areas, this could become a challenge. However, for now, the United States maintains its lead and aims to reduce the cost of "intelligence tokens" to zero.
