Google AI Accelerates Scientific Discovery via Genesis Mission
Carte mentaleMind map
Google DeepMind is committing $40 million in AI tokens and cloud credits to support the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) Genesis Mission. This initiative aims to double the pace of scientific discovery in the United States within a decade, by leveraging advanced AI to solve complex challenges.
The commitment translates into access to specialized AI tools such as AlphaEvolve (coding and discovery agents), AlphaFold 3 (biomolecular structure prediction), AlphaGenome (DNA understanding), and WeatherNext (weather forecasting). In addition, Gemini for Government licenses will be provided to tens of thousands of researchers and operational teams at DOE national laboratories, offering a secure platform for all their activities.
Concrete examples already illustrate the impact: AlphaEvolve helps map complex mathematical systems at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, while Gemini drastically reduces calibration times and manual steps for autonomous materials experimentation at the National Laboratory of the Rockies, thus freeing up valuable time for science itself.
