Roleo: an AI agent that looks for a job for you, from Tallinn

Roleo is an Estonian startup that offers tech specialists a personal AI agent tasked with continuously monitoring tens of thousands of job offers, identifying positions matching the user's profile — including opportunities not circulating on traditional platforms — and refining its results based on candidate feedback. The next ambition is to bypass the application itself: directly connect candidate and employer for an interview as soon as a strong match is detected. The company raised €2.9M to accelerate its deployment in Europe. The round brought together Bolt founder Markus Villig, as well as funds Inventure and Lemonade Stand. Roleo was founded by Janer Gorohhov, co-founder of Veriff and Y Combinator alumnus, and Vahur Hansen, founder of Membo and former developer at Wise. The platform still operates by invitation, with nearly 500 active users from Amazon, Google, Bolt, and Wise.

The first-level reading: a modest fundraising in a crowded segment — AI-assisted job search tools have been multiplying for two years.

What distinguishes Roleo in this noise: most AI tools in recruitment have been built on the employer side — CV screening, automatic scoring, analyzed video interviews. Roleo takes the opposite approach, equipping the candidate with an agent that works for them, not for the recruiter. This is a rebalancing of information asymmetry: the employer has long had the analysis tools; the candidate, meanwhile, navigated blindly. The market signal exists — London startup Jack & Jill raised €40M in September on a similar logic of twin agents (candidate + employer). Roleo remains small, but the moment is real: if candidate-side agents become the norm, large job platforms — whose model relies on selling visibility to employers — see their position weakened from below.
