The day was marked by two distinct dynamics: on one hand, an unusually large European funding round in semiconductors, signaling that the continent is starting to play in the big leagues for inference chips; on the other, several seed rounds in accounting automation and drug discovery, sectors where AI is still seeking to prove its real economic value. Only one M&A transaction on the agenda, in industrial instrumentation.

Fractile, a British startup specializing in semiconductor design, closed a £577.4 million Series C, according to share filings registered with Companies House between September and October 2026.

But the more interesting fact is structural. Designing chips is a business with extreme increasing returns: development costs are fixed and colossal, while marginal production costs are almost zero once the design is validated. A startup reaching this stage with this level of funding is not looking to survive — it's looking to lock in a position before established players (Nvidia, AMD, new entrants like Groq or Tenstorrent) close all windows. £577M is the minimum entry price to play in this league.

What this round primarily reveals is that significant investors have decided that the inference market — running AI models at scale, not training them — is distinct and large enough to justify a dedicated champion. For a French industrialist or operator deploying AI in production, the question of which physical architecture their infrastructure runs on is no longer abstract: it becomes a strategic choice.

ALLOX (legal name: Allostery Exploration Technologies), a spin-out from the Centre for Genomic Regulation in Barcelona, is developing a platform that combines high-throughput genetics, experimental biology, and artificial intelligence to identify drug binding sites on proteins that classical methods cannot reach — notably protein-protein interactions and transcription factors, involved in cancers and inflammatory diseases. The company raised $10.5M in seed funding (approximately €9.5M), a round led by Asabys Partners through its Sabadell Asabys II fund, with participation from CDTI (the Spanish public agency for industrial technology, via its SICC Innvierte vehicle) and Institut Català de Finances.

The funds will go towards expanding the platform, developing proprietary AI models capable of predicting therapeutic opportunities from large-scale biophysical data, strengthening the internal discovery team, and advancing several programs towards proprietary small molecule candidates. ALLOX also plans research collaborations with pharma and biotech partners.

The continuity of investors is notable: Asabys and CDTI were already present in the pre-seed round in December 2023. This is not an external conviction round — it's a follow-on from insiders who have known the technology from the beginning, which reduces the usual information asymmetry at this stage.

The real question for a pharma industrial partner is this: if the platform delivers on its promise — measuring the activity of a million mutant versions of a protein in a single experiment — it's not selling a research service, it's selling certainty on targets that no one else can validate. It's a pipeline asset, not a service provider.

Talky learns the unwritten rules of corporate accounting

Talky Labs, founded in Madrid in 2025 by Jorge Beamonte (CEO) and Maximilian Letón (COO), is developing an AI platform that automates accounting and financial operations by learning the internal practices specific to each company — those tacit, undocumented decisions that classic automated processing tools cannot replicate. The company raised €1.5M in pre-seed funding (round closed in September 2026), with participation from funds HelloWorld, Silence VC, Motive Force, and Aera Capital, as well as several business angels including Sebastián Gunningham (CEO of Remitly) and Paul Golbaum (CEO of Lightbase, former CTO of Seedtag).

Despite having nine employees, Talky claims to have processed over 1.8 million documents and over €2 billion in client expenses via its platform — figures which, if accurate, indicate significant early adoption for a company of this age.

The positioning is precise: where standard automation tools handle routine transactions, Talky targets exceptions — atypical invoices, edge cases that currently require human intervention and institutional memory. This is exactly the most defensible segment: once the system has learned a client's internal rules, the cost of migrating to a competitor becomes prohibitive — not by contract, but by accumulated knowledge.

The funds will go towards recruitment, product development, and technical infrastructure.

HuFriedyGroup expands its footprint in European dental market

HuFriedyGroup, whose business is not described in available sources beyond its positioning in the dental sector, signed an agreement on October 27, 2026, to acquire Mectron Dental's dental business in Italy, as well as Mectron's German dental distribution arm. The amount was not disclosed.

Beyond these elements, available sources do not allow for establishing precise product complementarities or commercial synergies between the two entities.

Directlayer aims to become the co-pilot for real estate purchases

Directlayer, a Bordeaux-based PropTech startup, is developing a personal AI assistant designed to support every step of the real estate buying journey. The team is expected to reach around ten people by the end of the year. The investors in the round are not disclosed in available sources.

The real estate buying market in France is notoriously fragmented on the advisory side: agents, notaries, brokers, and diagnosticians intervene sequentially without coordination. An assistant capable of aggregating these steps for the buyer would address a real friction.
